When Nokia, arguably one of the world’s largest phone makers comes out with a brand new flag ship smart phone, people should take note (or they used to take note). Unfortunately for a couple of years now Nokia have been lagging far behind its fellow smart phone competitors such as Apple, HTC and Samsung.
This new Nokia N8 may feature some really nice and very clever hardware, but unfortunately the software you are made to face every day, is falling far short of the other front runners. Nokias new, symbian 3 operating system isn’t a new system, and really you would think the guys would have made some improvements to try and make it comparable to the systems offered from apple and android.
Don’t get me wrong there have been some improvements made on the previous incarnation, but it’s just not enough, navigation lacks far behind competitors, there are fewer apps made available than competitors and social networking integration and email usage is far behind its competitors.
Although this sounds like I’m having a go at the new Nokia we just feel that such a huge phone maker such as Nokia, who spent years at the top of the game would not get left as far behind as they have in previous years.
Although this phone has its downfalls there are some really nice features that we like. Such features include the fantastic 12MP camera this camera takes fantastic pictures especially for a mobile phone, the quality of this camera rivals many a compact camera and is really a joy to take pictures with.
I’m afraid overall we are not too impressed with this latest Nokia N8 it lags behind its main competitors in many key areas and that fantastic camera just isn’t enough to justify a purchase of this phone over phones like the IPhone 4, Samsung galaxy s and the HTC desire. However if you are an avid Nokia follower this phone is a huge improvement on previous models and would be an ideal upgrade.
