Call And Roaming Charges Capped - save money on your phone abroad
Many people with contract phones are oblivious to the hidden and sometimes extortionate foreign roaming charges placed on their mobile phones, the prices of these charges have become more noticeable since the launch of the smart phone where as in the past you would of been charged for making phone calls and texts you now also get charged for searching the internet and other Smartphone activities.
The new EU commission ruling means that with EU countries calls cannot cost more than 32p a minute when making a call and no more than 10p a minute while receiving one, texts will also be capped at 10p every text sent and no charge for received texts, all these prices exclude VAT. All these implementations are part of a plan to bridge the gap between domestic and overseas call rates to as close to the same as possible.
Apparently due to some of the latest figures the average holiday maker will return how with a bill on £150 because they were not aware of the costs incurred while browsing the internet abroad, the new EU legislation will mean these over sees internet charges will be capped at around £45 a month but please bear in mind this restriction will only apply within the eu and not other parts of the world. A ruling last year now means that once you reach your limit abroad then your operator must cut of your mobile internet connection.
This new commission is expected to be announced from July next year where new price caps will be introduced on the amount data downloads and surfing costs meaning that prices will be no more than 81p a megabyte next year and as little as 40p a megabyte by 2014 this is compared with a £1.80 average cost at the moment.
